Prague has once again proven to be the heart of the river surfing world. On October 4th, the third annual River Surf Summit took place at Vlny Štvanice under the theme "NoGoZones". It was a weekend that will go down in history—not just for the legendary party, but for the founding of a new global body that will shape our sport forever.

Wavemasters from Canada, the USA, and all over Europe gathered in Prague with a clear focus: Safety. The "NoGoZones" theme wasn't chosen by accident; it reflected the urgent need to define the dangers of our sport and how to eliminate them.

Here is a recap of the milestone weekend.

Saturday: Legends, Science, and the "Wave of the Year"

The day was packed with crucial lectures (soon to be available on our YouTube channel). We were honored to host the American legend Rick McLaughlin, along with experts like Atso Andersen from Finland and the medical team from University Hospital Erlangen, who shed light on the biomechanics of injuries and "Surfer's Ear."

However, the most emotional part of the day belonged to the "NoGoZones" discussion. Following the tragic accident in Munich, Moritz von Sivers and Thorsten Keck presented the new European Rapid Surf Safety Manifesto—a game-changing agreement on safety rules, including the ban on fixed leashes.

The evening turned into a legendary celebration. During the party and the raffle, we celebrated the best in our community. The prestigious title of Wave of the Year went to our neighbors—the Augsburg City Wave! 🌊 Congratulations!

Sunday: A Historic Step – The Birth of IRSA

Sunday marked the beginning of a new era. The International River Surfing Association (IRSA) was officially founded, with its headquarters in Switzerland.

IRSA’s mission is ambitious and essential: to build more waves, share know-how, and bring our sport to new enthusiasts and fanatics across borders. This is the unified voice river surfing has been waiting for.

Nový milník pro river surfing: Vznikla IRSA, Augsburg má Vlnu roku a bezpečnost je prioritou

Praha znovu potvrdila svou pozici na světové mapě river surfingu. 4. října proběhl na Štvanici třetí ročník mezinárodního summitu, tentokrát s podtitulem „NoGoZones“. Byl to víkend, který se zapíše do historie – a to nejen díky legendární párty, ale především díky vzniku organizace, která bude formovat budoucnost našeho sportu.

Do Prahy dorazili wavemasteři z Kanady, USA i celé Evropy 🌍. Letošní téma „NoGoZones“ nebylo náhodné – po událostech v Mnichově se celý summit točil kolem bezpečnosti a definování míst a situací, kam se surfař nesmí dostat.

Sobota: Legendy, věda a Vlna roku

Sobota byla nabitá přednáškami, které pro vás brzy zveřejníme na YouTube. Nechyběla americká legenda Rick McLaughlin, finský inovátor Atso Andersen ani lékařské kapacity z Erlangenu, které nám vysvětlily, jak chránit uši a tělo před nárazy.

Nejzásadnější momenty ale přinesla diskuze o bezpečnosti. Moritz von Sivers a Thorsten Keck představili European Rapid Surf Safety Manifesto – novou „ústavu“ bezpečnosti na řece, která mimo jiné zavádí zákaz pevných leashů.

Večer už patřil oslavám. Proběhla legendární party, tombola 🎉 a vyhlašování cen. Titul Wave of the Year si letos odnesla vlna v Augsburgu! 🌊 Gratulujeme!

Neděle: Historický moment – Zrod IRSA 🏄‍♂️

V neděli se psaly dějiny. Byla založena International River Surfing Association (IRSA) se sídlem ve Švýcarsku.

Cíl IRSA je jasný: budovat nové vlny, sdílet know-how mezi provozovateli a dostávat náš sport k novým nadšencům a fanatikům napříč hranicemi. River surfing tak konečně získává silný mezinárodní hlas.
